The Eucalyptus tree, also known as the gumtree, is a large evergreen native to Australia that contributes 75% of the tree population. They grow fast and straight, reach tremendous heights and have existed in Australia for millenia, withstanding severe fires, dry climate and providing animals with a reliable home and food source and becoming a staple of the Australian country.
However the rapid expansion of housing in Australia has seen the reduction of these trees in parts of Australia, this results in animals such as Koalas that rely heavily on gumtrees facing the reduction of their territory and having to adapt to a changing environment.
